The Speed of Hope

I found this video online. And even if you haven't gone
through the situation of "Adultery" I think you can apply
their advice to ANY arguments you & your spouse get
in. It's all about forgiveness. When you want to give Him
the glory and do what He wants, you must do that, full-hearted
and TRUST that it's what He's wanting you to do and learn
from what has happened! Sometimes we want to take the easy
way out and just leave.....pull that divorce card. But if BOTH
spouses TRULY believe they can work it out with God's
help I think it's possible! Joe and I had a rough first
year of marriage...could be that I got pregnant with Alli Jo
a couple month after our marriage LOL But it was hard!
I prayed and prayed about the trials we were going through....
and just like in this video....I thought I loved Joe then......
we've come so far in the past 4 years of marriage...it's
unbelievable how much I love him NOW!!
Here's the video and then I put the lyrics up to
Brad Paisley's song "Then". Over to the right on my sidebar
is the music if you want to hear the song :)

Then lyrics
I remember, trying not to stare the night that I first met you
You had me mezmorized
And three weeks later, in the front porch light
taking forty-five minutes to kiss goodnight
I hadn't told you yet
but I thought I loved you then

Chorus

And now you're my whole life
now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
stronger than it's ever been.
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then

And i remember, taking you back to right where I first met you,
You were so surprised
There were people around, but I didn't care
Got down on one knee right there once again,
I thought I loved you then

Chorus

And now you're my whole life
now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
stronger than it's ever been.
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then

I could just see you, with a baby on the way
And I could just see you, when your hair is turning gray
What I can't see is how I'm ever gonna love you more
But I've said that before

And now you're my whole life
now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
We'll look back someday, at this moment that we're in
And I'll look at you and say
And I thought I loved you then
And I thought I loved you then

I love this song and truly describes the way I felt about Matt then and now HE is my whole world. Like you guys, Matt and I had a rough few years of marriage and I am sure there will be a time in our marriage that we will need help along the way, but through our love for one another and our love for Christ we can make it through whatever God has planned for us. We have eliminated the divorce card, we try not to even speak of that word, even though there are probably sometimes that Matt or I would like to use it, it won't change the feelings we have for one another. Now that I spilled my guts. Thank you for the song, Leah.

i'm so glad to hear that you and jess too have had rough times in your marriage... (not that i'm glad you had those rough times, but it makes me feel not so alone!). ryan and i have a great relationship now, but our first year of marriage was really rough too. everyone always seems to make their marriage sound like bliss and if it is great, but it made me feel like a loser b/c we had a tough first year. we joked on our anniversary this year and said well 4 years of marriage, 3 happy ones! lol. divorce was just never an option for us, but there were many nights i was thinking "what have i gotten myself into!". i'm so glad we worked through and everything is great now though. i think ours was partly b/c we already had brycen and it was just a huge adjustment and a lot of changes at once!

I am like all of you our first year of marriage was not a good one..
I love that song then it is so true.
Thank you for sharing this.
I think when we pray I think we need to remb. all the marriages and special the new couple that get married.
Divorce is NOT a option!!

I think most couples go through a "rough" time. I am a firm believer though that there are certain situations women & men both need to get out of a relationship for different reasons, especially fear for their life!

I love your post Leah! I think almost everyone has a rough patch sometime in their marriage. We have too but like the others said divorce was just NOT an option. I love my family and I am so glad that we have a God that helps us through all these times.

Leah,
Thanks for posting this. We too had a 1st tough year of marriage....we had a child, were young and just made some bad choices, but now we are stronger then ever. Divorce was never an option for us either. Thanks again for posting, and now I don't feel so alone!
